to turn off the sound, I've had to hide the card behind a 'jump break'.
To find out what that is, and hear a bit of Durham Cathedral choir back in 1990, click on the next link for more!

London - increasingly cycle friendly
Boris Bikes alongside storage for 30 personal bikes at Queen Mother Sports centre |
Shard under construction and Borough Market eating
The Shard going up fast - this is the first time I've noticed it - from Boris bike woodrush.com/bb in Southwark Street. more information on the finished product is here.
St Paul's Cathedral viewed from the Floral Hall in Stoney Street, Borough Market. This is the first time I've noticed this view over the railway viaduct. The Borough Market viaduct itself (just behind me in the other direction down Stoney Street) is in the process of being upgraded for Network Rail by Skanska to increase Thameslink capacity. I took the hint from the friendly red bull here, and remembering recent events and went for fish - which I prefer anyway! |
Lunch at 'roast' was enjoyable; I had 'pan fried Cornish halibut' with artichokes, hazelnuts and garlic (£21) plus rainbow carrots (£4) - I wasn't paying for lunch, I still prefer its close neighbour just below my window seat - Wright Brothers. |

First twinned toilet experience!
Maybe I live a sheltered experience but I hadn't come across one of these before.
I couldn't resist whipping out my camera for this one seen in the RSA restroom earlier today,

Route visualisation with cycle routes
The 08:02 29 June 'track' was actually a run rather than a cycle.
The full route length was 8.0km (6.9km in magenta plus 1.1km before I started recording!)

- also I've found http://runkeeper.com/user/shughie currently to be a smart way to store activity and performance data.

Those pies must have gone somewhere - Cycling from Ditchling Beacon to Lewes perhaps..
..they most probably disappeared on these tortuous hills (in the heat) or when I took a deep breath in to pose for the picture
Discovering Stane Street (nr Arundel)
Wikipedia notes ...
Stane Street is the modern name given to an important 90 kilometres (56 mi) long Roman road in England that linked London to the Roman town of Noviomagus Reginorum, orRegnentium, later renamed Chichester by the Saxons.[1][2]
Stane Street shows clearly the principles of planning that the Romans used. The overall alignment is based on an accurate line "sighted" from London Bridge to Chichester, with subtle local variations to allow for not only the nature of the intervening terrain (gentle slopes are used to climb the South Downs at Bignor) but also the underlying geology (the preferred line stays on chalk ground and avoids London clay as far as possible).

Ely Minster early morn
given that it is early February and I took the photo - the rather dull picture is the scene I saw this morning from the free car park..
